Sri Lanka 2007: fruits, elephants and woodcraft.

Our guide

Our guide during this trip was a distinguished monk with connections in the government. He spoke some good Russian – he’d been there countless times and is promoting the language in Sri Lanka. He was also an extremely ‘diplomatically’ wise guy overall (try to manage 13 Russian babkas lol you’ll know what I mean). Besides all other great things he did, he was buying us fruits and local sweets all along the way to compensate for the absence of lunch :).
